NEW MINI FAMILY:
MAXIMUM ELECTRIC PERFORMANCE.
MINIs have always been synonymous with smile-inducing driving. For over 60 years, our petrol models have paved the way; with responsive handling, joyful acceleration, and boundless enthusiasm. All combining to deliver the distinct MINI feel behind the wheel that drivers know and love.
In more recent years, it has become clear that an electric powertrain might just be the perfect partner for our much-loved cars. Due to the battery placement, the all-electric MINI Cooper benefits from a low centre-of-gravity, delivering enhanced driving dynamics for maximum go-kart feeling. If it’s acceleration you’re after, the all-electric MINIs give you full torque immediately - delivering thrilling agility, delightful acceleration with no lag or gearshift interruptions, and a very responsive drive.
And because our combustion engine models all enjoy multiple performance options (which you can read about here) we decided that electric models shouldn’t be any different! Because why should the petrolheads have all the fun?
Currently, our electric models come with the choice of E or SE depending on your performance preferences, with the ‘E’ standing for electric, and the ‘SE’ giving a nod to our racing heritage. To find out exactly what ‘S’ stands you can read more here.
While both E and SE pack quite the punch, we want to take a closer look at the sporty SE – its stats, the spec and why we love it.
LET’S LOOK AT THE NUMBERS.
When comparing the E and SE options below, we’re focusing on the facts and figures for our all-electric MINI Cooper 3-Door model...
- Get ready for plenty of power – we’re talking 160kW (the equivalent of 218hp), compared to 135kW (184hp) for the E.
- Torque is boosted from 290Nm to 330Nm for the SE. That means it has even more oomph and better acceleration under heavier loads. It’s worth mentioning that by comparison, the petrol MINI Cooper S powertrain delivers 300Nm of torque.
- Got a need for speed? The all-electric MINI Cooper SE can get from 0 to 62mph in just 6.7 seconds.
- With a larger capacity (the E sits at 40.7 kWh) , the SE battery is boosted to 54.2 kWh.
- Due to the increased battery capacity, the range receives a healthy boost – the SE has a maximum range of up to 249* miles.
SPORTY ON THE ROAD.
SPORTY ON THE EYE.
Whilst the enhanced SE battery performance provides additional power and even more fun behind the wheel, we’ve achieved that all-important responsive MINI handling by optimising weight distribution and using a direct steering ratio coupled with a small steering wheel. Enjoy the precision of the characteristic MINI steering alongside powerful brakes which ensure a high level of driving pleasure, safety, and stopping precision on your journey.
While the performance is the ultimate difference between our E and SE models, we’ve also added a few features to the latter to make it a little more athletic looking.
We’ve added a sleek ‘S’ on the octagonal front grille and on the rear badge, hinting at that extra power. It’s subtly sporty and perfectly reflects the smile-inducing torque of the all-electric MINI Cooper.
So, if you’re after power with a slightly understated look, the SE is the choice for you; with the added benefit that all SE models come with Level 1 equipment as standard - providing features such as MINI head-up display and heated seats.
HERE’S TO
FAMILY.
An all-rounder with characteristic MINI handling and a little extra oomph, the all-electric MINI Cooper SE is both economical (we can thank the EV powertrain and aerodynamic styling for that) and a joy to drive.
Like the sound of SE performance? The great news is that the SE option is available for both siblings of the all-electric MINI Cooper – the slightly larger 5-door MINI Aceman and the ‘biggest MINI ever’ - MINI Countryman.
When it comes to the all-electric MINI Aceman SE, the battery capacity, power output (equivalent to 218hp) and range is similar to the all-electric MINI Cooper SE. The smaller size of the MINI Cooper means the 0-62mph is slightly quicker (the MINI Aceman still clocks in at a nifty 7.1 seconds).
Like the MINI Cooper, the MINI Aceman SE benefits from Level 1 as standard and additional styling features, making it a great choice for those who want to enjoy superb versatility (thanks to the crossover SUV proportions) and more fun on their daily drive.
As for the all-electric MINI Countryman SE, you could say we’ve saved the best until last. The SE option delivers a seriously impressive 0-62mph of just 5.6 seconds thanks to a power output of 230kW (313hp) while still providing of up to 266* miles of range. The SE option also benefits from ALL4, an all-wheel drive system which distributes power dynamically between all wheels, giving you terrain-tackling traction and grip on all surfaces. With Level 1 as standard and the additional styling features to boot, this imposing electric SUV is more than just a pretty face.
*The all-electric MINI Cooper, MINI Aceman and MINI Countryman are battery electric vehicles requiring mains electricity for charging. Whilst we recommend the battery for these vehicles is charged to 80% to help optimise the life of your battery, the electric range figure shown is the WLTP figure after the battery had been fully charged to 100%. WLTP figures are shown for comparability purposes. Only compare fuel consumption, CO2 and electric range figures with other cars tested to the same technical procedures. These figures may not reflect real life driving results, which will depend upon a number of factors including the starting charge of the battery, accessories fitted (post-registration), variations in weather, driving styles and vehicle load.
